Environmental sustainability of Uzbekistan: recycling

Only 4-5% of 14 million tons of waste is recycled annually in our country. More than 7 million tons of greenhouse gases and 43 thousand tons of poisonous filtrates that are formed at landfills enter the atmosphere and soil.

The republic is actively working to improve the environmental situation. What steps Uzbekistan is taking right now:

■ A decision was made to establish a Waste Management Agency.

■ Installed waste reduction equipment at 80 + enterprises in the country.

● The opportunity for the population to earn money on separate waste collection is being worked out.

■ 8 new recycling plants are planned.
