The Law "On Waste" was discussed in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis.

It discussed the large-scale measures being taken in the field of ecology to ensure the constitutional right of citizens to a favorable environment, in particular, the reform of the waste management system, the coordination of the activities of organizations providing services in the system, and improving the quality of services provided for sanitary cleaning of territories.

In particular, based on the Strategy for Solid Waste Management for 2019-2028, systematic work is being carried out on environmental protection and the rational use of natural resources. The Decree of the head of our state "On Measures to Improve the Waste Management System and Reduce its Negative Impact on the Environmental Situation" serves as an important legal basis for implementing reforms in this area.

It should be noted that by adopting the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Waste" in a new edition:
- improvement of legislation in the field of waste management based on modern requirements;

- consistent continuation of measures aimed at further strengthening the material and technical base of sanitary cleaning enterprises and improving the quality of services they provide to the population;

- Achieving the target indicator of 50% reduction of existing solid household waste landfills based on the "Uzbekistan-2030" strategy;

- Taking measures to implement projects for the production of energy resources through the burning of household waste in 6 regions of the republic in 2025-2026;

- implementation of an effective system for the collection of plastic waste, which is currently generated in the republic by 1.8 million tons per year and pollutes the environment with carcinogenic substances;

- a number of issues in the field, such as the continuation of work on the digitalization of the industry through the introduction of modern information technologies, will be effectively resolved.
