Address of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Oliy Majlis and the People of Uzbekistan

On December 26 of the current year, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, delivered his annual Address to the Oliy Majlis and the people of Uzbekistan.

At the beginning of the Address, the Head of State highlighted the key achievements resulting from large-scale reforms implemented over the past nine years. It was noted that during this period the national economy was fundamentally renewed, market relations were developed, the social protection system was expanded, and the rule of law was strengthened. Most importantly, the tangible results of these reforms are being felt in the daily lives of every mahalla, every household, and every citizen.

According to the President, for the first time in the country’s history, gross domestic product exceeded USD 145 billion this year. Uzbekistan’s international standing, authority, and position in global rankings continue to strengthen steadily.

The Address emphasized that 2025 will be a year of major transformations aimed at further improving infrastructure that serves to enhance public welfare and foster business development. In particular, the poverty rate decreased from 8.9 percent at the beginning of the year to 5.8 percent.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed satisfaction with the achievements of Uzbek athletes, who have won victories at prestigious international competitions, recognizing them as one of the country’s most important accomplishments. Significant progress in education, science, culture, arts, sports, and other sectors was also highlighted.

It was noted that Uzbekistan is increasingly becoming a reputable international platform for dialogue on global issues.

The President emphasized that there are all necessary opportunities to increase the size of the national economy to more than USD 240 billion over the next five years.

The Head of State proposed declaring 2026 as the “Year of Mahalla Development and Social Advancement” in Uzbekistan. It was underlined that the mahalla institution and good neighborly relations are closely interconnected values that make a significant contribution to strengthening social capital.

It was also stated that 2026 will become a year of fundamental transformation in the development of public administration, the judicial and legal system, economic sectors, education, science, healthcare, culture, sports, and environmental protection.
