In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. UP-5 dated January 4, 2024, the phased implementation of a separate collection and sorting system for solid household waste for the period 2024–2026 is envisaged. This initiative is aimed at increasing the environmental culture of the population, the effective use of secondary resources, reducing the volume of waste sent to landfills, and improving the sanitary and environmental condition of settlements. As part of the implementation of the assigned tasks, it is planned to organize separate collection of waste by categories by sanitary cleaning enterprises by July 1, 2024, in the cities of Tashkent, Angren, Andijan, Bukhara, and Termez, as well as in the areas where multi-apartment residential buildings are located in the Tashkent district.

For the convenience of residents and to increase the efficiency of the new system, a project is expected to be implemented to provide the population with special waste bags equipped with QR codes (matrix barcodes) free of charge. This will ensure control over the waste collection process, increase citizens' responsibility, and create a modern digital waste management system. Separate collection of waste is an important step toward preserving the environment, forming an environmentally responsible society, and creating comfortable conditions for future generations.
