The Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On measures to further improve and comprehensively systematize the waste processing sector" (No. UP-56 dated March 24, 2025) has been adopted. According to this decree, the main directions for the development of the waste management sector have been defined, specifically: reducing existing solid waste landfills by 50% by 2030; processing generated waste as much as possible while minimizing its disposal at landfills; and implementing circular economy principles in the industry.

Starting from 2026, landfills for waste will be established based on decisions of the Cabinet of Ministers. In addition, within the system of the Agency for Waste Management and Circular Economy Development, it is planned to create specialized industrial zones on the territory of landfills focused on the disposal and processing of waste. Their service life will be 30 years.
