Currently, one of the serious global environmental problems is the disposal and recycling of obsolete electronic equipment, including computers, household appliances, and other electronic equipment. Among the CIS countries, electronic waste processing enterprises operate in only four states: Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Ukraine. At the same time, the largest share of recycling falls on Belarus, where approximately 33% of accumulated electronic waste is processed. In other CIS countries, this figure does not exceed 5–10%, and in some cases, it is practically zero.

The problem of separate collection and disposal of batteries also requires special attention. They contain toxic substances and heavy metals that pose a serious threat to the environment. A single released battery can pollute more than 20 square meters of soil or up to 400 liters of water, causing significant damage to the ecosystem. In this regard, it is very important to develop a separate electronic waste collection system, introduce modern recycling technologies, and increase the environmental awareness of the population.
