In order to enhance environmental safety and improve the waste management system in the industry, a complex of large-scale measures designed for the next five years is being implemented. Within the framework of the planned measures, it is planned to reclaim 970 hectares of land occupied by waste disposal facilities, subsequently restoring their ecological condition and returning them to economic circulation.

The implementation of these measures will significantly reduce the negative impact of landfills on the environment, prevent the annual release of up to 58.5 million tons of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, and minimize the risk of fires at waste disposal sites. Particular attention is paid to protecting the environment from the effects of seepage and groundwater. As a result of the measures taken, it is planned to reduce the negative impact of filtrate and associated pollutants on atmospheric air and the ecosystem by an average of 78 percent.

In addition, it is planned to improve the quality of sanitary cleaning services in 116 cities and districts of the country, which will improve the level of service to the population to 50 percent and create more comfortable and favorable living conditions. The implementation of these projects will become an important step toward forming a modern environmentally safe waste management system, improving the sanitary condition of territories, and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
